Name(s), age(s), and breed(s) of your dog(s)

Monkey is a black, mixed breed, shelter rescue. He is 4 and 1/2, but he is still a puppy at heart! We came up with his name, Monkey, because he has big, dark brown, strong looking eyes. When I focused my look on his face, I immediately thought of a Silver Back Gorilla.

What makes your dog(s) unique? Do you have a funny story about you and your pup?

Monkey is just a big, goofy, playful dog. He is also a big time Mommas boy. The two of us have an unbelievable, and fantastic connection. I can not imagine my life without him. He loves other dogs, hiking, car rides, sun bathing, and well, just about everything! He is such a happy go lucky dog, and he just loves life! He is also super food modivated, which helps a lot with his training.

How did you guys meet? Adoption? Breeder?

I always had a family dog growing up, and when I moved out, I found living in an apartment, without a dog, really difficult and lonely. So, as soon as we bought our own home, I started looking on Petfinder. It did not take long at all to find a dog meeting all of our criteria. When I saw the pictures of Monkey, I just knew he was the one! Monkey had been living as a stray on the city streets of Salem, Mass. In August of 2012, during one of the hottest, most humid weeks on record, a rescue organization kept getting reports about a black, stray, dog living on the streets of Salem, Ma. They tried, and tried to catch him for several days. Then, on the fifth day of chasing him, they finally succeeded in catching him. Now he is living the high life at our house, and as they say, the rest is history.

Greetings! I live in East Bridgewater, Ma, but I don't mind traveling for a great walk/hike. My family includes myself, my boyfriend of 26 years, our 2 sons ages 19 & 21, a dog, 3 cats, and 3 ferrets. I love everything nature and animal related.
