TSRA Rendezvous 2013

  • Apr 3, 2013 · 8:00 AM

Online registration now closed. If you have not previously registered via TSRA,
walk up registrations will be accepted but meals and shirts are limited.
Cost is $55 for Current TSRA Members and $65 for non-members.

The escarpment known as The Appalachian Plateau extends from Maine all the way to central Alabama. Somewhere in the middle is our own Cumberland Plateau, spanning from the brow of Kentucky to just south of Birmingham. As individuals, we are very fortunate to have this paddling treasure chest just 80 or so miles from Nashville, and we as an organization are blessed by our relationship with the fine folks at Camp Nakanawa. I can’t think of a better place to hold a paddling event, and come April we will once again descend upon the area for Rendezvous 2013.

The dates to remember are April 3-7, 2013. Jack Lyle once again is working to schedule plenty of trips, and Ann and Pepe will provide cabin lodging, good food, and the warmth of a fire in the Wigwam. If you would like to lead a trip, please contact Jack at [masked]. We need all levels of excursions, from Class I to Class IV. Beautiful Mayland Lake is available for flat water & sea kayaking. Also, don’t forget the hikers, bikers and walkers out there!

We’re working very hard to streamline the check-in process, and you can help. When you visit the website for Rendezvous forms, please make note of the attachments. Take a moment to fill out the waivers completely (the TSRA Waiver and the ACA Adult Waiver or ACA Minor's Waiver) and bring them with you to camp. When you check-in, pass them to the person opposite you at the desk, and they will verify that the information is complete. Remember, each person attending the event must fill out and sign the waivers, and minors must be accompanied by an adult and have their waiver completed as well. Of particular importance is your ACA number, please record it on your registration, as it saves TSRA money. If you’re not an ACA member, please check the appropriate box at the top of the form and add the costs to your registration total.

TSRA Rendezvous 2013 is scheduled for April 3-7, 2013. Please do not arrive before 8:00am on Wednesday, 4-3-13. Menu is generally “omnivore” so please plan accordingly if you have specific dietary needs or restrictions.

Registration will be open by 8:00am on Thursday, Friday & Saturday mornings.
Registration will be open approximately 5:30pm on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
(in other words, most likely closed during the day when activities are happening!)

If you would like to donate to the silent auction, please remember to bring it to the registration desk as well. Silent Auction will be held in the Dining Hall and the Live Auction will be held in the Wigwam.

One of our long range goals is to increase Rendezvous attendance each year. Bring a friend and introduce them to TSRA and the great paddling to help us reach this goal. We try every year to make Rendezvous memorable and a favorite future destination for all of us.

Take a moment to track down your ACA membership card and include the number on your form. Also, please print your email address carefully, as I will be using email for confirmations.
If you have any questions, please email [masked].

See you in April!

She has a broken/shattered tibia which will require several procedures to repair. Her arm is bruised but not broken. She's in great spirits, strong and has a great attitude.
Specific medical details will not be posted for privacy reasons.

The TSRA Rendezvous was an absolute blast! What a great bunch of folks! It all went so well. But after the event, several of us went for a hike at Cummins Falls State Park and our good friend Sally fell and hurt herself. What was a great hike turned into a rescue. She was taken to the hospital in Cookeville, I believe, and they were waiting to find out if the x-rays showed a break in her leg or damage to the joint. Her arm was hurt as well. Daniel Boone along with Lucy and Andy took her car there for her and saw her to the hospital along with the ambulance. I am hoping to hear updates soon! Perhaps someone can post them here. For now, let's keep her in our prayers!

I just noticed the "8:00am" I don't drive in traffic. I may be a little late if it's on the other side of town.
