This will be my first meetup as an assistant organizer, so let me know if you need more info.
The plan is to meet at the boat launch and be on the water by 10:30am so please plan accordingly.
Plan to be on the water for 2-3+ hours depending on how the group feels, a snack and beverage would be a good idea. Also the basics ie.. sunblock, hat and your group required items PFD's and Whistle.
There is usually a $5 fee to enter the park. Follow signs to boat launch (it's to the left after you enter the park).
-Lake Cochituate is made up of an upper, middle and lower lake and is connected by a series of bridges and tunnels. There are miles of shoreline to kayak and the water is clear. The lakes are surrounded by homes and a state park with a nice sandy beach.
Charles River Canoe & Kayak rents boats at the State Park entrance. Paddlers should be advised that power boats are allowed on the lake and can occasionally kick up some small waves but it's really only busy on the weekends.
There is a charge for parking at the State Park in the summer but you can occasionally find free spaces if you drive around the lakes.
Directions: From the Mass Pike, take exit 13 for Rt. 30 and follow signs for Natick. Continue straight at the first set of lights and you will see the State Park up on your right.
From Rt. 9, take the exit for the Mass Pike and follow signs to the Pike until you reach the lights at the intersection of Rt. 30 and Speen Street (Naked Fish restaurant is on the corner). At Rt. 30, make a right. The state park is up on the right.
***PLEASE NOTE*** The organizers in this group are NOT trained leaders or instructors.
