End of Season Foliage Paddle at Whitehall

This will probably be my last meetup for the season since the water temps are going down fast.  There is a slight possibility of a few more meetups with the requirement for attendees to wear a wetsuit or drysuit.  For more info on cold water paddling see:

http://www.meetup.com/paddling-33/messages/boards/thread/33084162

Please arrive in time to be in your kayak (butts in boats) and ready to paddle at 1:00 PM. Plan to spend about 2-1/2 hours on the water, exploring at a leisurely pace.  Dress in layers and check the weather before you leave home.  At this point, the forecast is for a partly cloudy, cool, breezy day.  There will be sheltered areas with nice foliage where we can take our time.

IMPORTANT: Do not program "Whitehall State Park" into your GPS as it will take you to the other side of the lake.  The parking for the boat launch is on Route 135 between Hopkinton and Westborough Centers.  The nearest Road to the launch is Dale Road in Hopkinton.

***PLEASE NOTE*** The organizers in this group are NOT trained leaders or instructors.  The organizers only set the time and place, each person participating in any group trip is responsible for their own safety.  Each participant is responsible for evaluating all relevant conditions for the trip and determining if their skills and equipment are appropriate for those conditions.

Required: PFD (worn), whistle.  Optional/recommended: pump/bailer, water, snack, change of clothes in drybag, sunglasses/visor.

Just enough wind to keep it interesting. A beautiful sunny paddle.

A little windy in spots, but nice and calm in the sheltered areas. A nice day to be outside!

    Hi all,

Sorry to be a wimp, but given the wind and my beamy, open cockpit stillwater kayak, I had better err on the side of caution and bow out for this afternoon...with deep sadness.

I'd LOVE to go, I've heard such good things about Whitehall, but I have a wedding to attend. So bummed to discover this group too late in the season. Please do consider having another meetup, even if the weather is cooler, I'm sure I can borrow a suit from one of my family members...
