Evening Paddle at Whitehall

Please arrive in time to be in your kayak and ready to LAUNCH at 6:30 PM.  I'd like to be back at the launch by around 8:30.  Sunset is at 8:24, so make sure you have a headlamp or flashlight.   As the sun sinks lower in the sky, you will probably appreciate sunglasses and a hat or visor to shield your eyes.

Do not program "Whitehall State Park" into your GPS. It will take you to the other side of the lake.  The launch is on Route 135, near Dale Road in Hopkinton. (Look at the map.)

***PLEASE NOTE*** The organizers in this group are NOT trained leaders or instructors.  The organizers only set the time and place, each person participating in any group trip is responsible for their own safety.  Each participant is responsible for evaluating all relevant conditions for the trip and determining if their skills and equipment are appropriate for those conditions.

Required: PFD (worn), whistle, headlamp/flashlight (evening paddles). Optional/recommended: pump/bailer, insect repellent, sunscreen, water, snack, change of clothes in drybag, sunglasses, hat/visor.

Three of us left the launch at 6:30 and had very nice paddle on a beautiful night. I'm not sure what happened to the rest of the group (traffic?), but hope all is well.

I'm supposed to be resting my untreated broken bone (though I still go to work everyday and have not scheduled the recommended surgery).

So sorry! Hope it clears up soon. Poison Ivy is no fun. :-(

    Probably coming, at least.
I don't think my newly discovered broken foot is a problem, but I seem to have persistent effects from the poison ivy (that stands between me and the lake) this year.

Oh, Dan! So, sorry. Get well, soon! Kill that poison ivy!

Thanks. The exposure I mentioned is not a problem anymore, but I certainly have to be aware of the stuff walking through it, apparently. It never bothered me before, even mowing it, as I was doing. [Fact is, I used a different type of mower this time.]

I would love to paddle with you folks, but this is the night of the Jimmy Buffet simulcast at the Mendon Drive In. Next Time definitely!

I would love to do Whitehall again but have just had some minor surgery and have stitches that bring restrictions on activities for a couple of weeks. Have a great time all.

Get well, soon, Bob! Take care of yourself, and we'll see you another time.
