Friends of Whitehall State Park in Hopkinton is holding a cleanup of the lake on Saturday, October 16th from 9 AM - Noon.

People should meet in the boat launch parking lot on route 135 and will be assigned a part of lake for cleanup. All you need (according to the notice) is a pair of gloves and some water. You probably don't need your kayak for the cleanup (you can always email the organizer and ask), but consider bringing it for a paddle afterward.

I am not sure I can make this date and time, but if I can I will be there. I did not schedule this as a meetup because there is no need to rsvp - just show up ready to help. For more info there is a posting at the Friends of Whitehall website: http://www.lakewhitehall.org/ If you go, mention that you are from the Worcester Paddling meetup group.

I was at Whitehall yesterday and our group saw a mature bald eagle. It flew around us for about a half hour and it flew very low so that we could see it well. It was just about at tree top level when it flew over our heads. It is really great to see that the eagles are making a great comeback. What at treat it was to see this beautiful bird.
