RE: [paddling-33] New Meetup: Sunday @ East Brimfield Lake

Hi folks,

Just a note of caution; my wife and I paddled this route a few weeks ago. Should say, tried to. We came in through the E. Brimfield side and about a mile in came to a large tree that had fallen across the river making it pretty much impassable. Maybe it’s been removed since then but…..

Subject: [paddling-33] New Meetup: Sunday @ East Brimfield Lake

Announcing a new Meetup for The Worcester Paddling Meetup Group!

What: Sunday @ East Brimfield Lake

When: September 6,[masked]:00 AM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Kayak @ Quinnebaug River in Sturbridge.

Meet at 8:45 at Long Pond boat ramp (East Brimfield Lake), we will launch at 9:00. We will paddle from East Brimfield Lake to Holland Pond and back, about 3+ hours of paddling. Bring a snack, we'll get out and stretch at Holland Pond before heading back.

This ramp does have people who check your equipment. Do not forget your lifejacket.

To get there -

From the Mass Pike to Rt. 20 West - Stay on Rt. 20 through the center of Sturbridge. About 1/2 mile after the intersection of Rt. 20 and 148 (stay on Rt. 20), there will be a brown sign saying "East Brimfield Dam", and then shortly after that is another brown sign with a picture of a boat ramp, the entrance to the ramp area is on the right shortly after the ramp sign. When you get down to the parking lot, the sign says "Long Pond / East Brimfield Lake".

From Rt. 20 East - Go over the lake, and the entrance to the boat ramp is the first left after you go over the lake.
