300 Springs - The Green River

The put-in is in Linwood, Kentucky off of Highway 569 and the take out is on 31E at the Green River Valley Water treatment facility. There is plenty of parking at both launch and take out sites and the convergence of the water at 300 springs is a beautiful spectacle. Not a long trip, maybe 3-4 hours at the most. Additional Information: The easiest place to meet is at the north end of the 31-E bridge over the Green River. It is about 3 miles north of Canmer. The turn-off to the put-in on 526 is actually a little south of Linwood.

  • IF YOU ARE DRIVING FROM BOWLING GREEN TO THIS MEET-UP, WE'LL MEET AT FAIRVIEW SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT AT 9:00AM.

  • IF YOU ARE MEETING AT THE 31-E BRIDGE OVER GREEN RIVER, MEET US THERE AT 10:00AM.

Anybody happen to come across an extra PFD on their trip? We were going through the loaners and are missing a GanderMtn branded L(size I believe) PFD Green and Black with a neck collar. Last seen in trunk of Dawns Car at put in. Thanks.

Anyone know the actual mileage of the paddle?

Went amazingly well for having that many paddlers...worth it to see/feel the 300 Springs! Even the little thunderstorm did not dampen the day! Both the put-in and take-out were hard for me and I certainly appreciated all the help. And, thanks to Kenny H. and Katherine for getting my kayak taken care of after I gave it a good washing!

It was a longer paddle than I though and my sorry bum is very sore. The waterfalls were super groovy.

It was great especially for so many people being involved. Thanks John and Mary for planning it. It was so comforting to see our fearless leader in the water at the take-out making sure we didn't miss it!

Great trip. Enjoyed the scenery and the wide river was great for our large group. Had a blast. I am really interested in doing this trip when the leaves are changing colors this fall.

The people were great. This was my first time on Green River andthe water was alittle flat making the paddle harder but I'm glad I went anyway.

Thank you Dawn. Lane and I had planned on hauling both out withus. We're bringing two people along with and would've meant 6 yaks between his truck and my suv lol. I close tonight at the Gander so come find me. ;-)

I will be picking up one of the boats at Gander Mountain tonight so somebody new can join us and give kayaking a try. Thanks for setting this up Matt!

Teresa, if you need someone to help paddle the canoe and can't find anyone else, I would be willing to forego the trip in my kayak and paddle with you to have you on the trip with us.

Yep, 11 Louisvillians will be heading your way :D

I can't wait to meet everyone from the Bowling Green kayaking group. I've met one or two so far that are also in the BG hiking group. Hopefully will be able to go on many more trips in the future as well :D

    Pat,

If you want to print out directions you can go to google maps and put Rio, KY as your destination and it will take you there...the take out is on Glen Lily Rd which turns off 31E just after the bridge (where we are to meet)...hope this helps.

@Pat: I was there last week. But I've had a beer and slept since then. :) The real trick will be getting down to the river. It's not car friendly!

Eats! If you want some great BBQ after the paddle, Big Bubba Bucks Belly Bustin' BBQ is close http://www.bbqandbourbon.com/2009/05/02/review-big-bubba-bucks-belly-bustin-bliss-bbq-munfordville-hart-county/#more-600 This is top-notch Q. Q on the river? I'll order & pick it up - get it to the put-in. (You are responsible for toting it on the river. )100 yds falls is a gravel bar. (Choose: 1/2 rack, full rack, or pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides)
Email me through board by Friday at noon.

Waterfalls are worth struggling through the slow water. (Well at least I struggled :) )

What a great idea. That will give people a chance to try out a particular boat and/or kayaking.
