SPECIAL COLD WEATHER/COLD WATER ADDENDUM TO DISCLAIMER:
This group has certain rules that apply on a cold weather/cold water paddle. Please be clear, if you are unwilling to abide by the following rules on this paddle then you need not attend. If you are unwilling to abide by the group's cold weather/cold water rules you are not only a danger to yourself, but you are endangering the rest of the group as well. Please dress and pack appropriately for this cold weather/cold water paddle. We require that you wear your PFD from the put-in to the take-out on a cold weather paddle. If you don't want to wear your PFD, then don't come. You will be sent packing. Do not wear any cotton clothing. For example, do not show up in blue jeans and a cotton t-shirt. If you do, we will tell you to pack up and head back home. Bring a second set of dry, non-cotton clothing and shoes in a dry bag just in case you take an unplanned swim. If you do take an unplanned swim on a cold weather/cold water paddle, the group will stop and you will be asked to exit the water and change into your dry clothing and shoes immediately to avoid hypothermia. This short delay will avoid a much longer delay when hypothermia sets in and we have to call in the park rangers to rescue you. And that would suck all the fun out of the trip for everyone. :-)
We will meet at Jason and Maria Stewart's Mammoth Cave hunting cabin which is located right beside our put-in, Dennison Ferry. See driving directions above. This will allow those with food for the optional post-paddle cookout to drop that food off at the cabin. This is only a 3 1/2 hour paddle, so we'll have plenty of time. The cabin is only ten minutes from our take-out, the Green River Ferry. So we will probably consolidate people and boats, run a few vehicles over to the take-out, then put in at Dennison Ferry.
OPTIONAL POST-PADDLE COOKOUT AND BONFIRE:
There will be an optional cookout and bonfire at Jason and Maria Stewart's Mammoth Cave hunting cabin which is located right beside our put-in, Dennison Ferry. The Stewart's will grill some brats, and have chili, soda, ice, hot chocolate, and all the necessary plates, cups plastic ware and paper towels. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage, and either a side dish or a dessert. PLEASE BRING YOUR CAMPING CHAIR to sit by the fire.
