Boat Share and cook out at Barren River Lake

Join us lakeside for an opportunity to try new boats or paddle a friends boat. This lakeside get together is your opportunity to try several kayaks at one time. Members will bring their boats to a central location and give everyone a chance to paddle or share different types or brands of kayaks or canoes. If you are riding the fence about purchasing a boat, this is your chance to sit in the cockpit and take it for a spin on the lake.

We will be grilling and members should bring a potluck type dish to share with the group. Please use the discussion section to coordinate food and drinks.

* prior to the meal we will meet to paddle the lake as a group. You may attend the meal or boat share without participating in the paddle.
A small donation will be taken to cover the cost of the picnic shelter and charcoal.

Only made it out for the picnic but enjoyed the social time. Especially enjoyed Duane's homemade hand cranked ice cream. Looking forward to some paddles with this group.

Good afternoon at the lake. Thanks to everyone that that brought food and donations. Next year we will make reservations early enough to get our usual location. Duane's ice cream was the best ever. It was great to see some new faces. It's amazing that every time we face adverse weather,it all seams to work itself out in the end.

Beautiful afternoon, sunny, breezy, etc. Happens a lot in KY. We don't usually cancel events. I recommend getting some cell phone numbers so you can call and check on conditons at the gathering site.

Thank you to all everyone's involvement with today's event. The weather completely cleared around 1pm. Thank you for the boat share. The information I received was helpful. Also, the food was very good. The home made strawberry ice cream and the chocolate cake were awesome. I hope to attend another event in the near future.

Weather service radar shows storm about to clear BG and environs but heading in direction of lake. Should clear there in quick at speed storm is moving. However more storms forming to north that MAY affect lake.

    • Mercedes

So does that mean we are still on for the event or not?

      May 10

  • Chris

Can someone tell me if this event is still on.

Just looked at weather.com. Looks like this rain front will push through in about an hour. I've got food cooked. My plans were to leave around 12, but I may wait and leave around 1pm. I live in Bowling Green.

I am going to bow out. I have a scheduling conflict that I fear isn’t going to allow up to the park in time for the cookout.

Looks like the bulk of the rain will fall today and tonight. Tomorrow, the rain will be sporadic. Overall, probably not too bad. Wear a rain jacket and we should be fine.

  • Lisa D.

If it's not crazy weather, John and I will be there. Looked at the list and it seems most everything has been covered, so perhaps we'll bring a green salad.
