I have never in my life heard someone say "turn right at the T". "Turn right at the dead end" on the other on hand is a common phrase. Now someone might say "take the right folk of the Y" and that would be normal but where not talking about a Y were talking about a dead end. =D

Dead end means you can only turn around to retrace your steps. The gravel road to Dennisons Ferry is a dead end. The above picture is of the intersection of Hwy 255 and Hwy 70. I would describe this as "When you come to the STOP sign at the intersection turn left. Nobody wants to be directed to a dead end, unless their destination is at the dead end, i.e. my driveway. I have never heard anybody say 'turn right at the deadend'. That is a contradictory phrase. However, normally you would tell folks to turn at the stop sign or turn at the intersection. Check your dictionary for the meaning of 'Dead End' - "something, as a street or water pipe, that has NO EXIT". "having no possibility for or hope of progress, advancement, etc." Since this intersection has an exit, by turning onto another road, it is an intersection. I don't care if you call it an intersection, T intersection, or 3 way intersection, but do not call it a dead end, as you can continue on and progress to your destination.
