Interest Meeting: Modern Paganism 120 Classes

  • Jan 13, 2013 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This event is a interest meeting to see who is interested in attending a series of lessons that will meet once a month for a year. The series of lessons are designed to give the "students" the knowledge and experience that they need in order to understand and potentially undertake self-dedication into a Modern Pagan Path of their own chosing.

The class will be for anyone 14 or older, but those under the age of 18 must have a responible adult also taking the class.

The series does not require that the student be a pagan or actually perform a self-dedication BUT all students will be asked to do some outside reading, some outside work, and in class practices.

Folks- if you are interested in this class, you need to contact Thorne directly, either here or on Facebook. These classes are being held the SUNDAY after the MEET AND GREETS. As far as I know, we are FULL, but I'm not the teacher! SO PLEASE TALK TO THORNE!

Have not been on the site for awhile and did not see this posted in time to attend. I would love to attend the actual classes.

Has there been an actual decision as to where the classes themselves will be held?

    January 13, 2013

    • Peggy

Eva I will have to get a map to get there, but I do know it is in West Knoxville, not far off the Interstate. I think it is near Farragut.

Thank you :) I can probably make a once every 3 or 4 weeks trip, just can't afford gas and bad weather weekly trips.

      January 15, 2013

  • Peggy

I could make it if it at West UU. Will it be the same date and time and the decision meeting?

    January 14, 2013

  • Thorne

Please remember that this is not the class itself. This is a meeting to decide if there is enough serious interest to have the class. As of right now we will be discussing my background, the syllabus, the cost of the class (5$ if there are 20 folks committing, 10$ if there are not).

Would that be $5 one time fee? I don't have any money or Job some Coming up with just $5 is hard.

      January 9, 2013

    • Thorne

if there is a fee it will be each time we meet (not tomorrow though)...

Thinking about having the interest meeting at Gatti's...

I talked to Rachel at Candle and Cauldron, if we do it there will have to have a charge... 5 - 10 dollars depending on addentance. I do like the idea of having it there though....

Workbook is done, 130 pages. Little expensive to print at the moment. I will work on getting it down to an acceptable level. We will see. May have to give it out one lesson at a time.

The abbreviate syllabus (which is minus the practicum and homework) is below. I will be providing a workbook which will include the full syllabus. In the past if the venue was free, the class was free. If we have to pay for the venue there maybe a "donation".

As for other costs.... I will do be providing things that you will need out of class to do the assignments. However, you will have a month to do so. E.g. the first assignment is find a stone or crystal that fits good in your hand and feels good to you.

    November 17, 2012

    • Jennifer D.

How big of a stone are we talking about here? ;)

      November 30, 2012

    • Thorne

One that will comfortably fit in the palm of your hand closed.

From the syllabus, I think the classes will be very interesting to me. I'm excited about this opportunity to learn more about the Craft. I plan to be at the January 13 meeting.

Sounds like a good idea to me, however leaving my house seems like a mountain to climb in itself, tired of climbing, cant usually commit to anything until last minute, but again good idea.

Can't respond for sure until a location is posted, but will be there if possible.
