North Austin Pagan Meetup Monthly Meetup

  • Aug 22, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The North Austin Pagan Meetup is a collection of local practitioners of traditional pagan faiths, including Wiccan, Druidic and Asatru practices. Our monthly meetings serve as a time of community, to grow friendships, engage in important discussion, and learn from each other. We will experiment with meeting on the fourth (4th) Thursday of each month for a while. Newcomers are welcome. The requirements of TNAPM membership are an open heart and mind, an attitude of peace and acceptance, respect for oneself and others, a desire for a sense of community, and the will to harm none. Disrespect, destructive behavior, or discourteous attitudes will not be acceptable.

The topic was good and interesting for everyone. But really those kids disrupted the whole meetup from the very get go. Many many people were put off by the noice.if you can't control your kids in public meeting place don't bring them or don't come!! Sorry but our group has come a long way with great topics and new members, but that kind of disruption doent need to be at our meet ups. A few people said they were not coming back if this is an example of our group meetings.

This past meetup (Aug. 22) was certainly not the best example of what our usual meetings can be. I hope our newer members who mentioned not coming back will give us another chance. Once the discussion of the topic got going, the ideas, stories, and experiences were terrific. The noise level was just beyond what is our norm, and the circumstances with our "super server" Rob rather unhinged the usual fun but calm atmosphere. I think Torvald is on to a good idea about setting age limits until a different venue is available.

I concur we need to address this subject. I understand the perspective many parents have & their desire to alwaus include them but simply some venues aren't appropriate & then both parties loose out on benefits or the meetings becomes unproductive when forced together. An age restriction don't take into acct sometimes a younger child who's more mature & demonstrates self control can be a passive participant. This will true for those of us raised in more Pagan homes.A more fair guideline, I believe, than age has to lie w/parents. If a child can sit quietly through a 2 hour movie w/no bathroom break then they are more likely to handle the meetings, imo. I'm a caretaker for my 3 yr old niece & I follow that along with an honest assessment of if she's rested & ate well that day. Children are a very important part of growing our community so shouldn't be summarily excluded, but raised to respect the meetings, realize public meetings as Pagans are signs of progress & accomplishment.

I'd like to go, but I probably won't be free until 8 PM. Will it be a problem if I'm running late?

    August 21, 2013

    • Torvald

Sure. We usually hang around until about 9pm.

I'm going to try to make it but my son came down with a fever last night, so it is iffy if it continues.

Hi- I am chemically sensitive and have a very hard time being around synthetic perfume, cologne and aftershave. If folks could avoid wearing it, I would really appreciate it. I am fine wih essential oils.
