Re: [pagan-341] Nightmare, warning to pagans

Mara,

I am not going to comment on whether they are xtian or pagan.  Don't know.  However, being an attorney in today's economy, I can vouch that the legal profession like everywhere else has been touched by lower income or no income also when talking about newly licensed attorneys.

Depending on how much experience he has, and what his profile is, he may or may not be able to get into a firm to practice.  If he has just recently passed the bar exam and is trying to go it alone (to set his own practice up), he has just set out on a path of low income in any economy until his name and competency are established in his resident community.

Also be aware that the bulk of attorneys handling general practice matters are not making large sums of money.  While many clients come in with retainers, many cannot keep them up as the case moves forward.  Also a large portion is paid in overhead such as rent, utilities, legal research licensing, mandated continuing education, etc.

I can't remember previously commenting being that I generally just remain a fly on the wall.  But this I can say.  The pagan community has good reason to be suspicious keeping in mind that history is to be learned from.  However, we need to be charitable in our thoughts, just as we have fought against the anti-pagan communities that have tried to brand us with labels that were untrue.  This is predominantly because they were making judgments based on a lack of true information.  Lets not become the crux of the saying about the pot calling the kettle black.

Their circumstances may be genuine.  On the other side, they may not be.  We don't have enough information to make that judgment.  Therefore, I agree with Old Blue to let them choose if they wish to provide references.  If for a reason other than being a xtian infiltrator they choose not to, then let that be their private choice too.  They have been given the resources from the community to move forward.  Its their choice and their's alone.  The proverbial ball is now in their court.

So lets let them be to make their decision in the privacy of their own situation, and, wish the well, whatever their choice.

R

I know Seattle is expensive, but how is it that an attorney can't afford a place to live?  I'm somewhat dubious about the legitimacy of this cry for help.  Thank you for your input.

I have sent help to these people. Beware, they may not be pagan, but xtians trying to infiltrate our homes. There are plenty of services in seattle to give them what they seek. They offered no pagan references.
