parking lot across from the library, North Grosvenordale, CT
THE SCENE: First off, it isn't The Old Mill. Meetup required me to list a "place", and North Grosvendale doesn't list "picnic table river" as one of the places :). This is the artist's place to do art: a picnic table surrounded by a sweeping vista of river and woods. Wide open, too. I've passed this outlook many times on my way to Putnam and have always billed it as a "prime pick", even though I've haven't yet painted there. It's right next to route 12, and if you have never heard of it trust me the entire state of Massachusetts hasn't either, so you can take a pack-elephant covered with all your media and relax and spread out without fear of crowds.
WHEN: 2 hours starting at the posted time
RSVP POLICY: ***NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION IF THERE ARE 3 OR FEWER ARTISTS RSVPd. SO CHECK YOUR INBOX OR THIS CALENDAR THE DAY OF THE EVENT***
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: None
WHERE TO MEET*: At the posted time, with 1/2 hour leeway for late-comers.
DIRECTIONS: Great question. Take route 395 South to North Grosvendale and get on your immediate route 12 (just off the highway) headed South towards Putnam. Or, drive to Putnam and head north on route 12. In both cases it's about 10 minutes from the highway or Putnam, respectively. You'll know you found it because you'll see a large river and a point of land with an obvious picnic table on it. Certainly, keep my cellphone # handy in case you don't find it.
THINGS TO BRING WHICH ARE OFTEN FORGOTTEN:
Mosquito repellant, Paper towels, Sweater, water, food
IF LOST: If you become lost getting there, call.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: It is up to you to determine if the weather makes painting untenable. If in doubt, feel free to contact me.
