DEBUT PLEIN AIR OUTING: Moore State Park, Paxton MA

THIS IS A NEW SITE, PLEASE READ SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

THE SCENE: If you Google Moore State Park you'll see that it offers a plethora of artistic possibilities, from a stream to a waterfall to open clearings to wooden structures.

STATS (1 to 5 with 5 best)

Distance to car:2 I do know that there's a path but I don't know how far apart each scenic opportunity is.  (If I did, it wouldn't be "debut" :) ).

Parking availability: 4 The parking lot, which I have seen, is generous and I doubt is a problem.

Bathroom availability: 3 It's a State Park so certainly should have facilities.  But where and what I don't know.  (a log?)

Accessibility: 2 These are woods and a path.  Granted, we won't need ropes.

WHEN: 2-3 hours starting at the posted time

RSVP POLICY: ***NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION IF THERE ARE 3 OR FEWER ARTISTS RSVPd.  SO CHECK YOUR INBOX OR THIS CALENDAR THE DAY OF THE EVENT***

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Anytime a site is new to the group and the organizer there is always some flexibility that is called for.  I've seen issues with parking, availability, human traffic, etc.  Please keep my phone handy, and recognize that if I am driving I won't be answering til I arrive.  If necessary, we may need to re-locate.

Second, since new sites sometimes require some walking, you may want to pack a lighter kit, or at least one which can be down-sized if necessary.

Third, I drive a black Mustang GT, and so if I am out-of-sight, I will always be within walking distance of my car.

WHERE TO MEET*: At the posted time, with 15 minute leeway for late-comers.

DIRECTIONS:Route 31N from Spencer and you'll see a sign on the left, about ten miles or so past Spencer.

THINGS TO BRING WHICH ARE OFTEN FORGOTTEN:

Mosquito repellant,  Paper towels,  Sweater, water, food

IF LOST: If you become lost getting there, call.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: It is up to you to determine if the weather makes painting untenable. If in doubt, feel free to contact me.

Don't forget to consider Fruitlands Museum...just call them to make sure there is not event that day and I am sure we will all be welcome. There is also an area that you can go to and not even enter Fruitlands...right off the road with an incredible vista....

Lovely place. Many good places to set up and paint. Most trails were paved. Easy access to the lake.
