A gathering at the NY Theosophical Society to discuss palmistry, network, hang out, learn something new, and have fun! Everyone is welcome. Complete beginners can learn, and experienced palmists can share.
Over a series of about 9 meetups (feel free to jump in at any point), we will explore the topic of face reading as described by Lillian Bridges in her book Face Reading in Chinese Medicine. Although not directly related to palmistry, there are many intriguing connections between these fields, and a study of both will enhance the understanding of each other. Personality is revealed through various facial features, grouped primarily into the 5 Chinese elements: water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. We will compare observations of both the hands and faces of attendees.
When the fire element is dominant, we see the unmistakable personality of the fire type - emotionally expressive and often charming and playful. Fire is associated with the heart and the emotions of joy and sadness. The most important feature of fire types are the eyes, and the "light" of the eye (aka shen) can tell us a great deal about a person's basic nature. We will explore the various measurements of the eyes and other facial features as we discuss this element.
Venue & Outline
We meet on the second floor of the NY Theosophical Society in the "garden room", next to Quest Bookshop. There will be a sign posted on the door. The following is a rough outline:
7:00 - 8:00 - Main topic presentation/discussion
8:00 - 9:00 - Read our own hands and faces
In line with the non-profit model, my goal is to collect just enough money to pay for expenses including room rental and meetup fees. My hope is that a consistent amount of $5 from everyone each meetup will cover costs, averaged over the long term. So far everything seems to be working out!
