Julia’s 9th Annual Holiday Party, Sat Dec 14, 6 pm - Central Scottsdale

  • Dec 14, 2013 · 6:00 PM

For the last 8 years, people told me they so look forward to my Christmas party each year. The house is so unique, someone said it was the best potluck they've ever been to, and they love the people.

So here I am inviting you all again, to my 9th annual Christmas party. Bring your friends. This party is cross-posted with many other MeetUps and private lists, so do not judge size of party by # of RSVPs on this MeetUp.  Do not sign up on multiple MeetUp sites, just one, please.  Previous parties[masked] attendees.

MAKE THIS THE BEST POTLUCK EVER ! People said my previous party had the best potluck spread they’ve ever eaten. So let’s make this one even better. Bring a "quality" potluck dish and BYOB. "Quality" means no packaged cookies/snack-type of donations, no veggie trays, and please no grocery store-bought desserts (TJ and Costco OK) because they take up too much room on the potluck table and remain untouched at the end!  Kudos to those who bring a main dish, crock pot plug-ins and BBQ grills available. The hopelessly "potluck challenged" can e-mail Julia [masked] to request painless, no-cook party items, that you could bring, instead of food. Bring your favorite Christmas CDs to play for all.

DRESS WARMLY, yes, gloves, scarves, longjohns, down jacket! Assuming no rain, party will be held outdoors in the backyard. Despite this warning, every year people didn’t think to wear enough, saying "but it wasn’t cold when I left the house". There will be several firepits for warmth, and a propane heater.

$5 COVER CHARGE (unemployed need not pay) Fundraiser for 3 specific no-kill (501(c)(3) exotic animal shelters, who have to come out of personal pocket every year, due to lack of donations to such "forgotten" (not dog or cat) critters. So, please be your usual honorable self and bring a $5 bill for the collection jar at the entrance.

Party address will be emailed to RSVPs 2 days in advance of party date.

Thank you Julia for all the work you put into this annual event. I know it was a lot of work but it looks like all enjoyed the festivities. There were certainly lots of people that I did not know but I enjoyed meeting throughout the evening. Great group! And great food!! Thanks again!!!!

The best part of the party, for me, was to see your face at my party! Let's get together more often. Are you interested in square dancing? Love, Julia

Oh no, did I RSVP too late. Would like to join as it will be my first event. Was waiting to hear back from friends, still am. If you can send address info that would be great:) Your invite said ok to bring friends so hope it is, if they get bavk to me. Also, what would be helpful to bring, as my kitchen is challenged:) Was dessert from TJ's or Costco ok, or what non-food item? Thnx, hope to find you:) Doreen

Haven't been to a Sierra Club Christmas party in over 15 years, but this one sure sounds like a great one to get re acquainted with many high adventure people. Really looking forward to meeting new friends that don't pass up any opportunities for adventure and fun. Life is short and every day should be celebrated like its the last. Thank you Julia for offering your pad for a great night of socializing and awesome food.

So looking forward to seeing everyone. Missed party last year. Thanks Julia for offering up your party house. I'm retired now so does that qualify me for unemployed? Of course, I'll donate $5 for a great cause.

This sounds awesome! I'm excited. I hope I can talk a friend into coming with me, but if not, I'll be solo. :)
