Annual Reavis Ranch "C" Backpack

  • October 23, 2010 · 7:00 AM

Annual Reavis Ranch "C" Overnight Backpacking Trip. TD: 12 mi EC: 1300 ft Pace: Mellow. We do this one every year! We will carpool to the Roger's Canyon trailhead in the Eastern Superstition Mountains. From here we hike up Grave Canyon to Reavis Saddle and descend a long shady easy descent into Reavis Valley where we camp for the night. This beautiful valley was once the home of Elisha Reavis, somewhat of a hermit who grew fruit and vegetables to bring to market. There are lots of great campsites and places to explore once we get there. This is for backpackers with some experience backpacking. You will need your overnight gear and a water filter. There is always water at the site.
Meeting time is 7am on Saturday, October 23 at the Home Depot at Power Road and US 60. Exit the 60 at Power and go south. The Home Depot is on the right. Please RSVP is for plan to come, if you just show up you will NOT be included in the outing.

On the last climb out Denise assured me that these weren't the Cliffs of Insanity. They were the Five Hills of Hell! Actually, it was a great trip. I've wanted to go to Reavis for years, and it was a fine group to do it with. Thanks Denise and everyone including those who are numbered.

Legs are sore, shoulders are a bit sore also. The trail was a bit longer then I expected. My sleeping bag let me down. I sat around the campfire with 6 great people and had a meal. We pumped water out of the creek through a filter for all of us. We took turns telling stories and laughing and I enjoyed every minute of it. Even the hard up hill parts. Thanks Denise, cant wait for the next one.
