Hey all you amazing hikers/campers/backpacker nature lovers!
Just a friendly reinder that our leaders are volunteers and have gone to some trouble to prepare for the events that they lead – prehiking trails, setting up meeting places, making reservations for the group. If you sign up for an event, especially a hike or a dinner let the leader know ASAP if you will not be going. You can do this easily by using the handy-dandy RSVP tool you used to sign up in the first place. By changing your RSVP to NOT GOING, the Outing Leader will know, and especially if there is a waiting list, someone else can have the spot!
To say you're NOT GOING is just as easy as when you managed to say you were going. The link is on the event posting right below where you clicked that you were going.
It is quite discouraging to go to the trouble to set up a hike and have only half of the people show up, and only a few who couldn’t make it call or change their RSVP. That leader will not be anxious to set up another event. If it is a dinner or something else with only a limited number allowed, let someone else take your place if you can’t go. If you don’t know if you will make it, let the leader know. Most leaders are very understanding if you give them a chance.
Now the ugly part. If you no-show, no-call, no change your RSVP to NOT GOING more than once (that means at least twice), you will be removed from the outing when you RSVP that your're going and put on the wait list. We want to run a group with responsible, courteous, and accountable members.
