Nerds vs The Lens Flares: After-Party For Star Trek Into Darkness Meetup

This Is The Star Trek Into Darkness

Post-Meetup After-Party Event

At The Fox and Hound Pub and Grille!

If you saw The Nerds vs The Darkness may recall I made a comment that this movie should really be named "Star Trek Into Lens Flares" because of Director JJ Abrams. Well I said I would save that discussion for another time...and this is that time! ;)

We can discuss what we loved and what we hated about the movie...

Will our retinas be fried from all the lens flares???

Will the Benjamin Cumberbatch end up being Khan or not???

Will the Enterprise be destroyed on the big screen yet again???

Will Lindelof, Kirkman and Orci deliver a great story??? We can only hope!

Please RSVP only if you're sure you are going to attend so I can provide The Fox and Hound with an accurate reservation count.

Even if you do not attend The Star Trek Into Darkness Meet up, you're still more than welcome to join us. However, be warned...if you haven't seen the movie and plan to...this will most certainly be one big SPOILER event!

You were able to type a I'll take it as a good sign your retinas didn't get fried. "Bad Robot!" ;)

I just saw JJ Abrams on The Daily Show. He irks me a bit. He says he hated Star Trek when he was growing up. Thought it was too philosophical. And now he's got the keys to the Franchise. Fascinating.

Uh-oh--didn't see the last few movies....he blew up Romulus? I'd be mad too...and for Vulcan of course, it isn't hard to make me not want to see a movie (not The Lens the way, what's a lens flare?)

Hi Donna, Lens flares are the flashes of light you can sometimes see in video and photography when there is a bright light source like the sun moving around in the picture. JJ Abrams decided to "purposely" insert these lens flares into his movies. If you're viewing this meetup online and can see the animated GIF I inserted with the Enterprise in can sort of see a lens flare reflected off the Enterprise hull as it moves through the image.

Yellow Alert: Our group size is now exceeding Bahama Breeze's ability to guarantee our seating within a reasonable amount of time after the movie. So we're moving the After Party Meetup over to The Fox and The Hound. We'll have our own area and server (with separate checks) back by their pool tables. I'll post an update to the event details tonight. End Transmission ;)

The Nerds Vs... whatever is actually because the Nerd Herd was on Chuck... and all the Chuck episodes were "Chuck vs. The Nasty Spy" or "Chuck vs. The Unpleasant Odor" or something like that. So The Nerds Vs. theme is in homage to a good show that is no longer with us.

Wherein I can become educated as I have enjoyed the "old" movies #1-4, and approximately 1-2 episodes of each run of the show.

Craig...I love it! Now that's how to kick off a good Nerd conversation! Welcome to the group my brother! Why don't you hit that RSVP button so we can discuss my distaste of lens flares at the meetup. It'll be good to see you again!

I'm new to the group so I have to ask, why is it always Nerds vs.....? Why so adversarial? I say embrace those lens flares and whatever else. What have they done to hurt you? (Hope you found that humorous)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
