Annual Valentine's Day Race: Course de la Saint-Valentin (10K or 6K)

OK, I'll say it: Valentine's Day is an annoying marketing invention. So let's go running instead! Glam it up in your best Valentine's day running outfit--think hot pants and glitter!!

Run is organised by the LGBT community of Paris in parc des Buttes Chaumont. Distances are either an individual 10K or a 6K with a partner. You can either sign up as a couple or if you don't have a partner, sign up for Opération Cupidon and you'll be matched with the running partner of your dreams the day of! Who knows, might be the most romantic 6K of your life!

i could be tempted for the 6km if my normal personal training session will happen late, and if someone is missing a partner?

I can't run it, and I have until tomorrow to give my bib to someone else - if you are interested email me your first name, last name and date of birth at [masked] - first come, first serve. it's for a good cause, I've paid for it and would rather give it away than not use it :) Alicia

Hey, all, I'm afraid I won't be able to make this after all-- if you know of anyone who wants my dossard, please let me know! If someone else would to take the lead and suggest a meeting point the day of (or just be on the lookout for meet up runners at gymnase where you collect dossards), please please feel free!! Sorry, and have a fab race!

Can I register for the race from the states and bring the MD note the day before...

    January 23, 2013

    • Blythe

Absoutely, click on the link in the text above to register (it's in French, but really just needs your contact info and date of birth and payment) and we usually give the race organisers a copy of the medical certificate (it doesn't have to be the orignial) when we go to pick up the registration packet-- bib, chip, swag, etc!

Vicki, so sorry to reply so late and be such a terrible race host-- things were a little crazy before and then during the holidays!! Race starts at 10:30 am in the lovely park Buttes Chaumont (closest metro is Jaures) and unfortunately, looks like you can't just sign up in person the day of. If you're still interested in this race, I can create profiles for you and your friends on the website and register you that way and you can pay me the day of (we can trade private messages about that)-- but something you should know is that unlike the US, you need a note from your doctor to participate in French races and they will not let you run without one. If you'd like to pursue this, I'm happy to send you a copy of the French text that the doc needs to sign. Think they'd accept one from an American doctor, but it would probably have to be in French...

Blythe, my three friends and I would like to run the race. What do you need me to send you to create profiles and how much is the race? We will pay you when we get there. Also, could you send me the form that is needed from a doctor and we will fill it out. Also, any recommendations for where we could stay nearby?

Just pmed you! But realised I didn't answer your question about accommodation. I'll ask around and get back to you, I have some friends from NL who visit a lot and have been happy with their hotels.

Welcome to the world of running, Stephanie! If you check out www.topchrono.biz, you'll have a complete race calendar for the Paris area. I'm doing the 10k in the 14th on Jan 20th and the one in the 8th the following weekend, if you're interested in either of those!

Blythe, Thank you thank you for your response! I will see my travel companions this evening and will get their response to needing a doctors note. I will let you know. I would love to do your race. Maybe if we don't run we will come cheer the runners on! Vicki

Hey everyone! So this is my first 10k and because the Buttes Chaumont is so hilly I was thinking of training for the 10k but doing the 6k. I don't have a partner to run with and because I'm so new at running (did my first 5k at midnight on New Years) I prefer to run individually. If there is anyone who also prefers to hit the race alone and would like to sign up as "partners" feel free to send me a message! Also, if anyone hears of more 5k to 10k races, let me know! I hope to run as many as I can regularly.

Three friends and I are visiting Paris from the United States and will be there for the Feb. 16 race. We would love to run it but I can't interpret the webpage so I don't know where the start is, how to sign up, etc. Can anyone help?
