October Writers' Group

Bring along your work of any genre and your sharpest critiquing skills. Please be prepared to buy at least a drink from the cafe and pay 1 euro towards our admin costs. Look forward to seeing you - usual ritual of come on time, guaranteed chance to read. If you rsvp yes but then can't make it, please make sure you cancel asap or the numbers get silly.

Ciao! Helen

Hello, everyone :) I write a blog http://cristinsadventures.com/ and I currently have an internship doing some translation and other writing work. I am seeking more freelance writing work and looking to network with people who would know about such opportunities. Is this a group that only critiques work, or is this also a group with which to network? Thanks so much for your help :)

I'm sorry, I won't be able to make it to tomorrow's meet-up. I'm more disappointed than you. But, gotta make them penyays, try to turn them into some Benjamins, and feed the cat. Someone told me, years ago, when I whined about having to miss a Miles Davis concert because I had a gig: "The best reason to miss anyone is to be working, yourself". I'll see you at the next one, Inshah-Allah.

I don't have any works to bring. I wrote in Chinese in my country. But I am really keen on reading and I want to know more about literature. And I want to meet people in the same circle.

I'm a young writer applying to MFA programs and looking for some criticism on my writing sample. Would this be a suitable workshop for me?

Cool. How does it work? Should I bring my piece?

sure, please do. Depending on amount of readers you should get at least 20 mins of reading/critique time. Bring copies if you'd like written feedback - generally more useful IMHO... length of piece up to you but about 2k words max is advised.

I would love to come, but cannot guarantee a 7:30 arrival. I will ask my employer to let me go a bit early if they can. I will not RSVP until I get a response from them...
