Dia De Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to remember loved ones who have died. People build private altars containing the favorite foods and beverages, as well as photos and memorabilia, of the departed. Celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed.
Please bring your favorite dish from a family member that has died. This can be a dish that they used to make which you loved or a dish which you'd make and they loved.
We will also be giving out prizes for our Halloween craft a long contest (I'm "borrowing" the idea from the KnitGirlls videocast). The basic rules are:
• Any project started September 1st, 2013 or later and finished by October 31st, 2013 will be eligible to win a prize.
• You sell the item as Halloween and it counts. It does not have to be orange! It can be red, green, purple… any color you can sell as Halloween-ish. Just make sure it is finished and you bring it with you to the party.
EXTRA CREDIT FOR COMING IN COSTUME!!!!
Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll answer them below :) Happy Crafting!
