For those unfortunate knitters who could not make it last night, you missed a GREAT meet-up. The Cocoa bar was packed with all sorts of delectable yarns and needle (Luckily, no one was stabbed by a wayward DPN). The group of knitters were as diverse as I have ever seen. We had a range of knitting talents and projects. From the one month knitter working on a baby hat on DPNs, to the 40 year knitter who I swear had six hands, each knitting a different project at a rate of 60 stitches/sec.
I like to make a shout out to all the knitters new to our group that came (sorry if I forget someone)
Cindy (can't wait to see that first sock) and her friend Sandy? (if only that knitting machine was portable enough for you to bring it to a meeting so you could give us all a demonstration)
Hannah (the DPN queen) and Nathan (finally, our second male knitter)
Jillian (hailed all the way from Manhattan. How were the fries? I hope you got home okay.)
Ashanti (the bold beginner, unafraid to make that 5 piece cardigan. Keep on trucking.)
Sara (we didn't get to talk much, but hope to see you again)
Two knitters even showed up from Manhattan (shout to Jillian and Hannah). At this rate.... our complete domination of the NY knitting community will be assured! Hah ha ha (*maniacal laugh*)....... Sorry about that. Got a little carried away. The people were friendly and the conversation lively (I'm sure the wine helped)
Now, for some FYI >
a) I posted the next meet-up, so please rsvp yes, no or maybe. I am going to start removing inactive members (i.e. people who never attended a meeting and / or have not been to the website in over 6 months)
b) If you have a blog, please add our Park Slope Knitting Group meetup tag to your webpage.
c) Starting next year, some of our more experienced knitters will hold knitting lessons during some of the meetings.
d) I posted a poll at the meetup website. Please VOTE.
e) member Kim mentioned the idea of charity knitting for December. Does anyone have info on a local knitting charity drive. If so, post it on either our meetup or ravelry website, or just email the group.
I hope you'll continue to make this meet-up thrive by coming. Take care,
