Knitting orchestra April 19th.

Hey Julie,
Lyuba us here :) Look what I signed up for! So much fun. They are looking for more knitters. As it is in Brooklyn, do you think the group will be interested? Here is the info:

A new music festival in Brooklyn is looking for a knitting orchestra. No music reading ability or rehearsal involved. Contact [address removed] right away if interested. Here are the details:

MATA is a NYC non-profit that commissions, performs and supports young composers. We were founded by Philip Glass in 1996 and run a Festival each Spring for which we commission several works.
One of the works we have commissioned this year is a concerto of sorts for electronic knitters, instrumental ensemble and knitting orchestra by the Dutch-Welsh composer/sound artist Jobina Tinnemans. Five knitters will be attached to a knitting interface that will transform the rhythms and sounds of their knitting into music, an additional group of knitters (at least ten) will surround the stage for atmosphere. The performance is scheduled for April 19th at Roulette in Brooklyn and we’re asking all knitting volunteers to create a long white scarf of at least 4’ that will drape over the stage. If needed, MATA can supply the yarn. Contact [address removed] if interested.
