Sounds like a plan. Will do Lace & Cable. Toe-up, Magic Loop? Where do I get the pattern? Will do RoRo when I feel up to the challenge.

Subject: [knitting-937] October KAL!

The next KAL is going to be......

Socks!! Specifically, cabled socks!

There will be a choice of two patterns to follow along with? take your pick or knit both!

The first pattern is Lace and Cables Sock which has a simple cable running along the side and features a cable-like lace pattern on the front. Perfect for someone who hasn?t tried cables before or is new to following charts.

The second pattern, RoRo Socks offers a more challenging cable design as well as an increasing stitch count for the leg, so taller or wider socks can easily be done. Many of you saw this sock as I was working on it at meetups. I?ve finished the pattern and am in the process of officially publishing it here on Ravelry.

Both patterns are done toe-up. Don?t worry - I/we?ll walk you through your cast on, heel, cast off? You can do the socks one or two at a time on DPNs or Circs. It is the perfect opportunity to learn how to do two socks at a time on one long needle. (my favorite way!).

I?ll bring both patterns on Thursday to Sweet Melissa?s so folks can mull them over and start thinking about yarn choices. Both patterns have a gauge of 8 spi in stockinette So start thinking about your yarn choices. We will cast on October 8th!

Finally - as a special bonus for this KAL - I will have a mini-trunk show/sale of Studio Avenue Socks. I?ll bring some skeins along to our meeting on October 8th and if anyone would like to purchase one to use as part of the KAL (or in general) I?ll be offering them at a sale price. No pressure of course, and everyone should probably have a back up yarn to use as well, since we?ll be casting on on that day. :-)
