Pirates & Ninjas 2008!

The next big PartyPaloozaNW Costume Party will be held on Sat, July 26th, 2008, at 8:00 pm.

It will be held at the PartyPalooza Pirate Ship (which is really a private residence in Redmond) and the address will be provided prior to the party. We have invited people outside of this Meetup group and anticipate 60 or 70 partygoers!!

Come all ye swarthy pirates, stealthy ninjas, sexy mermaids, wanton wenches and mischievous creatures of the sea! The PartyPaloozaNW crew is hosting another swashbuckling good time!

Just like last year, we expect to see everyone dressed up as Pirates, Mermaids, Wenches, Sea Monsters and Creatures of the Sea. This year we are inviting Ninjas, who as you may know are the natural born enemy of Pirates! Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes!

Island appetizers will be provided and Suz will make a batch of her famously dangerous rum punch. Please bring your own poison and appetizers to share.

If you would like to bring along extra shipmates please email Suz and she'll add them to the Evite. We especially want to meet fun, friendly, outgoing people! Donations of rum, gold, and special talents are gladly accepted. In the spirit of Captain Jack Sparrow, we may even be graced with a few acts of lewd entertainment.

Please make sure everyone in your crew is 21+ as we will have security at the door checking ID.

We will be charging a $5 entry fee per person at the door which will be donated to Water 1st International (http://www.water1st.o...), a charity dedicated to providing clean drinking water to the poorest communities in the world. ALL funds raised at the party will be donated on behalf of Kumar Cunchala, a dear friend of ours who passed away last year.

Of course we'll have cool raffle prizes! If you or your company has a prize you would like to donate to the party, let us know!

A Masquerade Costume shop in Bellevue is offering a discount on attire for the party. Check out their website at: http://www.AMasquerad....

See you on Saturday July 26th!

What a fun party! Thank you to everyone who made it such a great event. We raised $200 for Water 1st International! If you've got more pictures, please post them to the group!

Don't stress too much on a costume for this event. I strongly recommend that you wear one, however, because it just makes it more fun. But even a bandana with a skull on it or a $5 pirate hat from the party store will suffice. The costume and party stores have lots of fun costumes and accessories. I have a link on my website to some local stores, but any party story will have pirate gear. http://partypaloozanw.com/r... See you there!

OHMYGOSH! I think this is going to be an amazing party! I've gotten so many emails from Ninjas that I'm now concerned that the Pirates will be outnumbered. It's going to be interested to see if we can "just get along!" hah. But seriously folks, we've got at least 30 RSVPing via Meetup and another 40 RSVPing from the Evite... so watch out world, this pirate party will be OFF THE HOOK!! (Capt Hook's hook perhaps?!)

    •  You're a great hostess Suz. How do you stay so mellow with all those people in your house? Thanks for opening your home to everyone. And the Oscar goes to......'Mark.....errr...Jack Sparrow' Even the hand gestures were off the hook (so to speak).
    •  Lots of great costumes, friendly people and bawdy fun.

Everyone was extremely nice and the hostess was the best. All the costumes were great too.
    •  Suz is an excellent hostess! This party was so much fun and I'm glad that I was able to make it. :)

Another blow-out PartyPalooza party! We had over 70 people in the house and nearly everyone was dressed to the nines! Pirates ruled the day, outnumbering Ninjas 10 to 1. Pretty girls, handsome boys, it was really a fun time. We ended up raising $200 for Water 1st International which we hope to get matched by a local technology company for a grand total of $400! Everyone kept asking me when the next party will be. The current plan is to host a Halloween party 2 weekends prior to Halloween and I'll be posting the date soon. In the meantime I will continue to post costume events that other groups are hosting, for example, on Monday the Zombies are mobbing at University Village. Next Saturday Melissa is hosting a Mathatter party in Greenlake and the following week the Gnomes are hosting a Pirate party in Bellevue. If you are hosting a costume party, please let me know and I'll be glad to help promote it! Cheers! Suz
