Explore southern Italy with us on this trip to Naples, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii.  Our home base for the trip is Sorrento where we'll spend mornings at Sant'Anna Institute working on our Italian language skills and in the afternoons we'll go on excursions around the region.  Sorrento is an attractive resort and well-located for regional sightseeing. This gateway to the Amalfi Coast has an unspoiled old quarter, a lively main shopping street, a spectacular cliff-side setting, and easy public transportation.  We'll see the most interesting attractions in the area and there's also time to do additional exploration.

It was totally amazing. The cooking experience was one of the many highlights! Though it rained much of our trip, and carrying an umbrella became second nature--we still managed to see some of the most fantastic sights. One downside was the bus ride and tour guide along the Amalfi Coast--I shall return again to Sorrento and do that part on my own.

Keith, how many people are going on this trip? Will you be the organizer?

I won't be able to go on the trip even though I helped organize. The main organizer is Valeria Formicula from Sant'Anna Institute. She'll be there to help and the entire staff of the school. My Dad's health isn't good and I'm staying in the U.S. this year. Nancy Coviello was also hoping to go but her Mother is in poor health. It'll be a small group of 3 from our DC meetup but there will be others in attendance at the school at the same time. Valeria did reorganize some of the trip details because of the small size of the group. I will forward the revised plan to you when I have a chance, Sue. I think the biggest change is that a trip to the island of Capri has replaced a day trip to Naples. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks -- Keith

We traveled to Napoli and the Amalfi coast last May, otherwise we'd jump on this trip as it looks like a great itinerary, esp the language part. We took the water ferry from Naples to Sorrento and it was convenient with great views. The train back was cheaper but hot crowded and not such great views.

    Keith -
This looks like an interesting trip!

I'm curious about the flight. Since everyone needs to book the same flight (or so it appears), do you know what the cost would be? Just wondering.
    Ciao

The quote I'm seeing for the airfare is $1,424.50 (taxes and fees included). You can get there with a different flight and/or use frequent flier miles. Sorrento is about one hour from the airport. A group trip on a bus is provided but there are other ways to get there, of course.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
