Beginners' Italian Workshop

So you want to learn Italian, uh?

Are you an absolute beginner?

Or can you order pizza with all the trimmings and ask for the restroom but you think that the "Museo delle cere" is the "Cherry museum"?

You came to the right place!

Passatempo is starting a Beginners' Italian Workshop alongside the highly acclaimed Intermediate and Advanced Workshops.

This beginners' workshop is targeting people with an interest in the language and culture of Italy who have little or no formal experience with the language.

The informal, friendly environment of the Intermediate and Advanced Workshop will be maintained and the teaching level will be adjusted to the individual language skill and level of the participants.

The emphasis will be on spoken Italian but elements on reading and writing will be provided, according to the interest and goals of the participants.

Along the line, a solid foundation on grammar, syntax, spelling and vocabulary will be provided.

COST:

We require a $20 contribution per student per class to cover the expenses (classroom rental, handouts etc.) payable directly, by cash or check, to your Teacher Luca Brigatti.

If you are ready to take the plunge you can contribute in advance to all the 12 classes for $180 ($ 15 per class).

PLEASE NOTE:

At least TWO persons needs to RSVP for the teacher to be present.

Please do RSVP even if other students have already done so as this will help prepare the lesson and bring the correct number of (if any) of handouts.

Missed classes: the teacher will coordinate with the student the place and time for the new make-up class .

Cancellations: Classes may be canceled in case of inclement weather or teacher's inability to attend. A canceled class will be recovered at a mutually agreed place and time.

No food allowed in the class room so please plan accordingly.

Arriving by Metro: The closest metro stations are Farragut North and Farragut West. Foggy Bottom is also an option.  The school entrance is at the end of the parking lot beside the United Church at the corner of 20th & G Street, NW.

Arriving by car: Please note that the parking lot is only for the church members. However, there is public parking close to the church. The least expensive option for parking is the Marvin Center Garage (<a href="http://www.gwu.edu/~parking/map/details.cfm?id=3"></a>http://www.gwu.edu/~parking/map/details.cfm...).  It's located between 22nd & 21st Streets and cost only $8.00 after 6:00pm.

If you have any questions, please send a message to your organizer or teacher: Luca Brigatti

Thank you Luca. Please try to have another beginner's Italian workshop soon and I'll be there. Your advice is considered.

I'd like to attend, but injured my knee last week--would the church let me park in its lot if the orthopedist orders a handicap sticker? Or, is there anywhere else to park close by? While my knee heals, I have to limit walking.

Ciao Beverly, I'm sorry to hear about you knee (been there done that) and I know that even a short walk is a pain, literally! We asked the administrator of the church where the workshop takes place and unfortunately they told us that all the parking spots in the church are assigned. I would gladly lend you my spot.... if I had one. An alternative is to park on G St. where there are parking meters that work with coins and I believe also with credit card or with your cell phone. I really hope you can make it. Take care - Luca

I will have the handicap sticker by tomorrow, so will try to find a parking space somewhere nearby on the street. Thanks for checking with the church.
