Have you wanted to travel to Tuscany during the autumn season? It's a magical place with the good food and colors, the soft noises of the work in the countryside and cool breezes. Life is returning back to normal after the summer excitement.

On this trip Chef Vincenzo D'Arista will introduce us to chefs, winemakers and the wonderful people of Tuscany.  He'll give us the kind of experience that comes through traveling with an insider.  Vincenzo's family lives in Tuscany and he worked there in the wine and food industry.  The trip brings together many beautiful, quaint and historic elements from Siena, Florence and the famous hill towns of Tuscany, its warm and welcoming homes, bountiful fields, and spectacular countryside.

I only loaded the best of the pictures that didn't include members of our group. It's still well over 300 photographs!!! Unbelievable! Later on I'll send each of you a set of pictures that will include group members. I hope everyone has gotten over their jet lag! I'm still recovering. I got back Thursday evening. I hope you guys will join me at the Italian film tomorrow at 4pm (see calendar for details). If not, we'll catch up another time. Thanks for traveling with us! I look forward to seeing you at future meetups! Cheers -- Keith

Breath-taking landscapes, history at every step, beyond world-class art, the best food and wine in the world, the most genuinely friendly people in the world...everything exceeded my expectations, and I haven't a regret, outside of laughing too much and too often that food (and wine) came out of my nose way too much! Grazie mille a tutti voi, per la vostra gentilezza, il senso dell'umorismo e cameratismo!

I have a carry on the same size as Sue's. That and a back pack is all I am taking.

Marisa - according to edreams.com, the hotel does have a hair dryer, I looked up the hotel amenities - and it was listed - 5 star reviews all around as well - don't hold me responsible though if there isn't a hair dryer - I read it off the Internet!!

I agree, the carry on size I use for work is small and based on usually two meeting days, same slacks and a pair of shoes. There are times i have to take the 24" if I have additional meetings for 5 day trip where i am in air conditioning. In Italy, we may be sweating, needing extra clothing or wanting to buy souveniers from the olive wood store, the pottery store or the markets in Florence! If not mistaken, AF's specifications are larger so if we could convince the guys to take gym bags, we girls could take larger! Lol

Shopped luggage today FYI they do not sell 26x14x10 in USA perhaps in Italy, where did you buy your 26x14x10 luggage? What are our options?

    September 8, 2012

    • Sue

Best I have is 24x16x10 which is close.....it is a softside that was a "medium" of a multi piece set that I got a few years ago at TJMaxx. The standard size carry on I have 20x14x8.

Ladies - this is from frommers: Florence is undoubtedly Tuscany's shopping mecca, where well-heeled fashionistas browse the designer boutiques of Via Tornabuoni and Vigna Nuova; the latter is home to the flagship Salvatore Ferragamo shoe megastore. More affordable souvenirs include pretty Florentine paper in swirly Renaissance-style patterns, and quality leather goods from San Lorenzo market. Further afield, in Siena and Impruneta, traditional handmade terra cotta tiles and pots make great gifts.

Hi everybody! This sounds like a wonderful trip and I wish you all a lot of fun.
I just joined the Passatempo group and I have a question: "How many trips a year do you usually organize?"

Hello Travelers! A quick note to let you know that our return will be on Oct 7th instead of Oct 6th. The Air France flight # hasn't changed and we're still landing at 7:00pm. We'll stay the extra night in Monaciano. We'll still see Pisa on Saturday and on Sunday we'll have a plenty of time to make our way to the Pisa airport for our departure. Monday, October 8th is Columbus Day which I hope is a holiday for some people and you can rest before returning to work. Buon weekend!
