What else would you like to tell our group about yourself?

I have been to Italy about a half dozen times: hiking with Lisa, touring Siciy with Lisa, to Florence, Sienna, San Gimignano, Pizza (The Art History Tour!!) with my students, and to Rome with Lisa and Amy, etc. Thought it about time I learned some Italian.

How did you learn about our group?

Through my daughter Lisa Peterson.

What is your favorite Italian book, author, film, song, musician, food and/or city?

Gay Talese's autobiographical-family genealogical work. favorite author: Umberto Eco--The Name of the Rose. Castiglione 's The Book of the Courtier. The Uffizi by Luciano Berti, Anna Maria Petrioli Tofani, Caterina Caneva. Also, books studied for masters--though difficult are keepers: The Purgatorio, by John Ciardi and his "The Paradiso. Giovanni Boccaccio's The Decameron. Love all Italian foods, I think! Florence and Sienna are my favorite cities. But also love those Hill towns and hiking in the pre-Alps!!

At what level do you speak Italian and do you speak other languages?

Absolute beginner in Italian, though I recognize upon hearing the language as I have two Italian aunts. Studied French and German and speak a bit, more as I go to those countries and practice. I am currently studying Spanish and suffering from a bit of transference--getting French and some Italian mixed in in responding to Spanish questions!!

What kind of events would you most enjoy?

I am interested in cooking Italian, art, architecture and landscapes. I thoroughly enjoyed a boat ride along the canal where we studied Paladio--what a visual treat! I have enjoyed the Italian films, especially mystery-and romance stories with subtitles. I enjoy all classical music--especially opera; but am learning to appreciate the folk music of Italy.

Hello, I am Lisa Peterson's mother and have been her guest many times at many meetup events. I have enjoyed all so much that I thought it time I signed up as a member. Also, I am signed up to go to Sorrento, Italy in October. Thank you. Claire
