What else would you like to tell our group about yourself?

I have visited Florence, Rome, and Venice, and I would like to go back to Italy someday soon and be able to have a conversation, in Italian, with my Italian friends.

How did you learn about our group?

internet search

What is your favorite Italian book, author, film, song, musician, food and/or city?

Books: Divine Comedy: L'Inferno and Canzoniere Cities: Florence, Venice, Rome, Amalfi Film: Umberto D, Garden of the Finzi-Continis, 8 1/2, La Dolce Vita

At what level do you speak Italian and do you speak other languages?

I can barely speak it, but I can read most Italian enough to figure out what's being said, and I can understand about 40% or so of what's being said to me. I'm shy, and I'm a scholar and writer rather than a talker, and so that, more than anything, is what keeps me from being more vocal in Italian.

What kind of events would you most enjoy?

I love Italian people, food, and film, and I would like to be able to speak the language. I'm a British literature professor, and I can read early Italian (Dante and Petrarch), but I would like to be able to talk to Italians who are actually living.
