Would love to meet others with a similar "soft spot" for this beautiful country to share stories, travel plans, recipes, wine recommendations...but I am worried that it may be quite a while before I can do justice to the language...is this a problem??
From the website
Cities...Florence, Siena, Luca, Cortona...am looking forward to exploring Urbino, Bologna and southern Italy one day...food...I can't think of any food in Italy I haven't enjoyed..mushroom festival in Cortona was quite special both in spirit and in "taste" .... an entire town gathering to celebrate fungi! Also dinner fresh from the garden at a farm near Siena...simply prepared, delicious and effortlessly? orchestrated (for 10) by a girl still in university. A country of many charms and talents!
Just beginning the journey....

I have traveled to Italy on several occasions -- first as a student, then with a two-year old in tow, later (sans children) visiting a colleague in Rome and this past summer I joined a friend in Siena for the Palio -- during the heat wave of August!!
