In 2005 I went to Italy to meet aunts, uncles and cousins that we did not know existed. I've returned to visit them and travel almost every year since then.
I learned about this group through another Italian group.
I have read some of Dacia Maranin's translated stories that I have enjoyed.
I would say I'm at the beginner level, though when I visit family I always speak Italian and manage to be understood. My grammar is horrible though.
Social and cultural events.
My mom is an Italian war bride, met my Dad in Naples in 1945, married 1947, and came to the States to meet in-laws and unfortunately they never returned to Italy. My Nonna came from Italy to live with us so Italian was always spoken at home.
