  • What is purposeful living?
Purposeful living boils down to purposeful action. How can you live a purposeful life

without acting purposefully? In other words, how can there be purposeful living without

    purposeful action?
Many people who regardless of their age, station in life, position, the power they wield,

influence and money they possess, are not in touch with the very essence of who they are

and by extension the purpose or meaning of their lives.

Life is a continuous “construction project”. It is about the journey (process). If we

always tell ourselves the truth and take responsibility for our lives, we will value and

therefore open ourselves up to life long learning and in the process a greater

understanding of who we are and are becoming, and where we are intended to be in this

    world.

How we choose to learn is critical to our progression toward what Abraham Maslow called

the highest order need; “self-actualization,” or the meaning of one’s life? We have

choices here; we can just take life as it comes or make a decision to take control to the

degree that the forces of nature will allow and approach it strategically, accelerating

our personal growth in the process.

A more purposeful, fulfilled, and passionate life leads naturally to a change in the

    world.

International thought leader Jean Houston(an expert in such areas as human potential and

community development) says “You don’t change the world — you change yourself, and you do

    what is front of you.”
“You make sometimes very small changes and they have these incredible resonative effects,

because we are living in a time of such deep, interconnection" says Houston, who’s worked

in 108 countries with the United Nations and other international agencies.

Martha Beck says "Passion is not something we can grasp or own but a force of nature,

connected to and influenced by things that extend far beyond any puny human self. Finding

it isn't like bagging an expensive trinket; it's like leaving comfortable, familiar

terrain behind us and throwing ourselves into the sea.

About the speaker: Cho Lim is CEO of an international business consultation company. Now

Cho focuses on providing individuals from every walk of life with mentorship and helping

    them achieve success.

Cho went from being a sales person in a battery store at 19 to becoming the youngest

person running a corporate sales division to Asia by 26. He left that career and has been

financially independent since his late twenties with a multi-national company. Cho will

give you practical knowledge on how to build a foundation in different aspects of your

    life.

Cho reached a point in his corporate career where he saw the way he would have to live

and the values he would have to live with were unacceptable to him and making a change to

live with purpose and passion in a direction that he could control became the only

    option.

The library is located on the north side of Kingsway, west of Edmonds Street. Take the Millennium or Expo line to Edmonds station, or take the 106, 112, 129 or N19 bus. Please note, there is no access to the parkade after 9pm
