Join LAdobe on Wednesday night, February 27 at 7pm at the Capital One 360 Cafe (the former ING Direct Cafe) at 11175 Santa Monica Blvd in West Los Angeles.
Parking is available in the garage located next to the cafe and the Tesla dealership. Please keep in mind, there will be a lot of traffic at that location, so plan accordingly.
For this event, we'll be looking at one of the hottest and most controversial topics in web design. Responsive Web Design is a newer way to take your desktop web design layout and convert them to mobile friendly layouts using what are known as media queries to change the design based on the device used and the width of the web browser.
We'll start out the evening with author and web design expert Janine Warner. Janine is the author of 25 books about the Internet, including Web Sites DIY For Dummies, Mobile Web Design For Dummies, and every edition of Dreamweaver For Dummies. She’s created more than 50 hours of training videos about web design, content strategy, and Internet marketing for lynda.com, Kelby Training and TotalTraining. She is also creator of DigitalFamily.com, an interactive design and training agency based in Los Angeles.
For her talk, Janine will focus on the battle between Responsive vs. Adaptive: Designing for Multiple Screens. Responsive and Adaptive design are getting more and more attention as the best way to create websites that work on everything from tiny mobile screens to giant monitors. But what’s the difference between Responsive and Adaptive design, which one is best, and how do they work? In her talk, Janine explores the latest design strategies and shows you how to ‘future-proof’ your web site by designing for screens of all sizes.
After this talk, we will then focus on a new product from Adobe that just got released…on Valentine's Day! It's called Reflow and it's part of the new Edge Suite for creating HTML5-based, mobile-friendly content. Reflow allows you to use a Fluid Grid layout and various points in the layout to determine different web design layouts all based on the width of the screen. The end result is one HTML and one CSS file that determines all the various layouts which you can then import into Dreamweaver or any HTML authoring program you prefer to use.
Both our own Adam Bell and the HTML5 User Group's ShaRon Sachse have been heavily involved in this new program and will share their insights with this new tool at this event.
We'll have food courtesy of LunarPages and drinks courtesy of CapitalOne 360. This will be a fantastic evening and a must if you're into web design and development. We look forward to seeing you on February 27th.
