The latest advances in technology have made it easy for anyone, on almost any budget, to take really good photos... Even great photos.. But few photos are POWERFUL.. The kind of images that stop us in our tracks - the kind we find ourselves staring at, mesmerized - the kind that just make us smile instantly... Even if we hadn't planned to! In short, photos with emotions. That touch us...

Our presenter this month will share with us how he creates such powerful images. And he will show us powerful Photoshop techniques.

Rick Penn-Kraus is a creative director with expertise in photography, design, illustration, cartooning, music, writing, and storyboards, and has led/managed art departments for some of the world's leading international public relations corporations, marketing firms, and publishing houses. His designs have won awards for clients that include Pepsi, PG&E, Motorola, Sony PlayStation, the State of California, UC Press, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Hallmark Entertainment, and many others, and his book designs have appeared on a number of nationally bestselling publications.

Rick is also a professional photographer, a contributor to partner site with Getty Images) and specializes in photographing families photojournalistically over a period of days to document their lives. He recently spent a full day photographing supermodel Cindy Crawford for Pepsi, and as a high school student photographed Steve McQueen one year before McQueen's death while conducting the last interview (an exclusive) with the famous actor. In addition, Rick is a corporate software instructor, regularly teaching Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Painter, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, and other applications.

This session is designed especially for anyone looking to improve their Photoshop AND photography skills. Learn a combination of photography tips and Photoshop tricks, with an emphasis on capturing the emotion of the moment to produce memorable and intriguing photos of your kids, grandkids, parents, and friends without using a flash.

Learn about some of Rick's favorite Photoshop tricks and tools in short bursts of explanations, demonstrations and humor. These may include creating a lens flare that you can move, scaling photos without distorting the people, creating photographic caricatures, and much more..
