I too recently joined but things have not worked out to meet others from the group.  But your idea is great.  I am interested and willing to invest in such a show.

Hi..My names Tina. I recently joined the group, but haven't had an opportunity yet to me anyone else from the group =( But about your idea...I spent some time with an Independent Gallery putting shows together so I have a bit of experience in regards to curating and would love to offer what I can. I also have a couple friends who did this type of thing as well. The rented an empty place...a space that is empty and up for lease, for about $300-500...they had music, food, etc...I could ask them about the spot they rented and/or any suggestions they might have regarding an empty space to rent...Which may be easier than getting a Gallery as they usually have shows book months (and sometimes years) in advance....Let me know if this is going to happen. I would LOVE to be a part of this =)

Do you mean put on a show directed by the group only? Do you have any experience doing that?  Just wondering because it might get expensive.  Galleries, most charge a fee anyway (after they accept an artist). They send out advertising and promote shows, they know how to hang a show and handle all the problems involved. There's more to it then just hanging pictures on a wall.  But, if anyone can get a space in a good location at a decent price, could even be in someones home, I'm for that too.  Maybe some in the group have a patron list and we could all meet and spend some time addressing and sending out invitations. Although a gallery that is putting on a show would do that for you.

What about pooling our resources to rent out an actual art gallery space where we can put out an exhibit of our work.  Something were we actually put out a catalogue with listed photographers and their work.
This seems to be one way to move up the ladder.
