The W2 Art

Dear Prospective Artist,

On behalf of the Whittier Cultural Arts Foundation we would like to invite you to
participate in the “W” art exhibit. A few community artists have agreed to
participate and present their artwork on what promises to be, once again, one of
the most influential art exhibits in our community.
We would like to allow all talented artists to exhibit their work at our upcoming
“W” Art Exhibit on November 18-19, 2011 at Parnell Park. Listed below are the
criteria and applicable fees to participate:

Criteria:

Artists with print and sculptures are welcomed to join. Print art is defined by
paintings, drawings, prints and photography. Paintings and drawings can be oils,
watercolors, tempera, acrylics, ink and pencils, to name a few. Sculpture art is
defined by three dimensional art, content, and form.
Fees:

The fee for participation is $75 per participant and considered a tax deductible
donation to the Arts Foundation. You will be given your own display space of
two (2) panels size 8 ft x 8ft, 25 formal invitations, and free advertising on all
marketing materials such as promotional cards, posters and personal invitations.
The display space is for artist use only to accommodate art pieces accordingly.
You are also permitted to have items for sale. On any sales produced by this
event, the artist agrees to give the customary 20% of all sale proceeds to the
WCAF to help support different art programs in the community that the WCAF
endorses. In return for your generous contribution, your business link will be
listed as an art supporter on the WCAF website for one year. This will give you
the opportunity to grow within the community locally and internationally.
Looking forward to your participation,

In Focus: The Sky
Daily through December 4, 2011

West Pavilion, Terrace Level, Getty Center

Generations of artists have found inspiration in the sky, which became a rich subject for the medium of photography after it was introduced in 1839. Drawn from the J. Paul Getty Museum's permanent collection, this exhibition explores the genre through the history of photography, including works by Gustave Le Gray, Alfred Stieglitz, André Kertész, and John Divola. Four sections—urban skies, clouds, dark skies, and skies in color—give an overview of the diverse and imaginative ways photographers have approached this theme.
