Christijan Draper - Theories of Learning: Instructional design informs IxD

  • May 22, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Christijan gave this talk at last year's Salt Lake Design Week and we ran out of space. Not everyone who wished to hear his talk was able and so we promised to make him present it again :)

Speaker: Christijan Draper, Director of UX at Rain.

Description:
Learning and doing. We interact with computers and devices to learn things and to do things. Sometimes we have to learn things about the interface in order to do the things we want to do. Sometimes we have to learn too much and can do too little. In this discussion, we’ll explore theories from cognitive and learning sciences to inspire our design decisions to enhance the learning and simplify the doing.

By the way, will there be a recording of the talk somewhere?

Couldn't make it because traffic was horrible. Took an hour from downtown to 90th south :(

I was half an hour late coming from downtown SLC, but still glad I came.

Shoot, my google calendar is apparently still set to Eastern time (just moved from NYC), it was showing up as 8:30 and not 6:30 in my alerts, so I'm not going to be able to make it in time :( boo!

Is this going to last until 930pm?

I actually need to be done before 8, so we're cutting off then. And I'm the speaker and the host, so I get to make the call. :)

Directions in case Google tries to steer you wrong:

Take 500 E exit from I-15 to American Fork. Head east to State Street. Turn right on State Street. Head south to 700 E (the next light) and turn left on 700.

Rain is in the office building on your left after you cross the tracks.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
