Holiday Party

Tis' the season!  Well not yet, but we wanted to finish all the planning for 2013 so we can just kick back and enjoy what a great test automation community Portland has.

We are taking December off to just drink, chat and maybe eat something...hmmm sounds like what we do every month....well anyway!

This is different!!!

No scheduled speaker and we are going to meet at some place with a professional bartender!! Not to say the ladies from Vircon are not terrific bartenders, cuz they are!

Wear your favorite holiday sweater!

You can call it the Portland Selenium & Test Automation User Group Yearly Strategic Planning Meeting if that helps you get out of the house!!

We hope to see everyone there!!

Very cool, very laid back, and very rich with a complex tapestry of enthusiasts in diverse disciplines in the field. Test and automation is where it all comes together, but I've known that for years...

We were a bit late, but it was great meeting who I did even though I ended up doing most of the babbling ;+)

What a downright pleasant bunch of folks - my nephew had an awesome time (his words, not mine) with his introduction to the PDX tech community (of course I followed up with the tail end of game/open coding night at the Lucky Lab, who to my discovery he was already familiar with from thru support of youth in tech from the Benson robotics Club and other activity.

Thanks for having us, and for just being.

My nephews are home for the holidays and I don't have class tonight - I might actually make it out in public tonight! If so, wherever I go I'm draggin em with me - one is graduating OSU very soon (hint hint). I'd like them to see that there are options for work/jobs that might be a bit more rewarding/fulfilling/enjoyable/etc than working for some huge corporation as well as getting to stay in PDX, where they were raised.

Uh oh. One nephew is only 20. Is the map above still accurate and are minors allowed?

As this is our "Yearly Strategic Planning", please come with ideas or post some here. We have about 10 slots for topics. Anyone have any X-Mas side projects they could demo for the Jan. Meetup?

The meetup location is once again up for annual review. We LOVE Jive, but I have been getting requests to move to the other side of town, etc, plus at the rate we are growing we might not all fit in Jive next year.

This concludes the "Strategic Planning" portion of our show. You may now return to your refreshments.

I also have a screen shot tool, that uses Selenium and makes side by side reports of pages at various resolutions to test responsive design... but ChromeDriver 2 no longer takes full screen screenshots. So its stuck at Chrome 26.

Also played with PhantomCSS recently. That also does screenshots. The cool part is it can screenshot individual elements and compare them with resemble.js. Not much to show here maybe 5 min.

The Whiskey Library will probably be too small to hold all of us, or too busy to let all of us in, so we are changing the location to Punch Bowl Social.

It looks cool been wanting to go there too!
