For the next developer meetup, Flynn O'Connor will be leading a two part presentation on WordPress and search. The first part will cover search analytics, search patterns, anti-patterns, and strategies for tailoring search functionality for a site or app to work better with its content. We will explore some of the potential pitfalls when a WordPress sites' content grows. Also covered will be some of the plugins and tools available for improving search on WordPress sites. In the second part, information about theoretical search patterns and anti-patterns will inform an exploration of Elasticsearch and how it can be used as a powerful tool for WordPress sites to handle search at scale. We will explore the basics of Elasticsearch and some of the ways you can customize your search engine with Elasticsearch's many tools and apis.
