Walk Eat Talk (This is not an event, I just need some ideas)

  • January 31, 2013 · 7:00 PM

THIS IS NOT AN EVENT!!! There is no need to sign up...

Happy new year everyone! Hope this year is more fabulous than ever.

Anyway, I spoke to Kevin and he is open to other activities other than just eating. So this year, I'm going to add outdoors activities to some of my meetups (don't worry, all events will always be involved food food food). lol

I also had a nice discussion at my last meetup about adding a nice walk before or after a meal. Would like to get some suggestions of places to eat that are near parks, trails, or walk-path!!! Please leave comments/ideas/suggestions below.

Thank you,

Pui

Was thinking a stroll downtown, with time for photography and samplings at food carts. I also hear there are trails in Tualatin near Bridgeport (for food and or movie). Downtown Vancouver loup along river (lots of restaurants there) and over bridge through part of Ft Vancouver back to downtown (where there must be restaurants) or in summer the farmers market. If I think of more, I'll let you know.

How about a food pod crawl? Glendoveer Fitness Trail and Ringside; Joe's Crab Shack and Vancoouver Water Front.

Sounds great. I suggest Verde Cocina, http://verdecocinamarket.com/, location #1 on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, and a walk around the SW trails nearby. http://swtrails.org/. The food at Verde Cocina is fresh and fabulous. Anne.

No, I haven't been to any parks lately. I mostly took my dogs to Laurel Hurst park and sometimes Mt Tabor park; At Laurel Hurst park, there is an area designated for dogs only and it is nice to walk and look at different trees; also, during summer, this park is very popular, a lot of individual and companies picnics, weddings, wedding parties....free movies. Now, it is convenient for me to walk my dogs around my neighborhood, but any park is nice. Thanks. I will check out Mary S Young Doggie Park

Yeah, figure on the nice days, we can bring the dogs and then have a picnic by the river.

I've enjoyed lots of good walks up Mt. Tabor followed by the Good Eats food carts (or other restaurants on either Hawthorne or Belmont) in SE. Mt. Tabor can be a pretty serious walk, but you can also just go through the neighborhoods next to it.

Laurelhurst Park followed by The Screen Door, Laurelhurst Market or a small group at Pambiche would also work well.

Any restaurant by NW Thurman & 23rd could end up with a walk up Thurman to the start of the Lower Macleay Park Trailhead. From there, its an easy hike to the Portland Audubon or Pittock Mansion or further up the Wildwood trail.

I didn't mean to criticize your idea. I just do that hike for a hard one but I am an old, old lady :)

Or Portland water front and Boke Bowl. They are open some nights for dinner now I think.

It would be fun if we can have a picnic during the summer with pot luck or catering service and fun activities like soccer, volley ball, walk your dogs or just walk around the park....

That's why I changed it to waitlist instead but I wonder how many people will just click sign up & click not going, blindly without reading? :)
