“ Exceedingly great group! ”
— Dennis on Jul 5, 2015.
“ Avoid Sundays at Guardian. I went to a recent meetup, and was treated coldly by both the staff at the store and the people playing. I arrived an hour late due to traffic, so there were no tables available, and had to wait 90 minutes until a game finally ended. The group suggested a game I clearly stated that I hate, with the host even stating 4 was perfect and he hated playing five. That left three, counting myself. One of the people then talked the other into playing a two player and, turning to me, said, "You don't mind playing the other game, do you? Great!" I looked for another possible game, when one of the staff told me I wouldn't be allowed to set my games down anywhere, because they were so crowded. Nope, couldn't even look for a spot. As I headed out, the person who'd decided she'd rather play a two-player than include me, seemed surprised. "You're leaving? Why?" "It's been 2.5 hours and no games." "Wow, that's rough. You should try to be here by noon next time." ”

“ This was my first event ever from meetup.....it was so much fun! The host not only took the time to help a group of us learn a new game, but he was good about matching up people who needed people to play the game they wanted, but also at finding spots for people who walked in. Took the intimidation out of trying to approach a group. We met some nice people and had a blast. I will so be going again! ”

“ This was my first Meet-up group, and not my last. I'm new to most board games, and the people are very friendly, accepting, and patient. Many times, I've walked up to a table to look at a game, and the group invites me into the mix without me even asking. So don't be shy, come join the group! It's tons of fun. ”

“ This group runs at least two meetups a week where a bunch (~15-25) of friendly people gather to play mostly European boardgames. The games are great, and there are no barriers--new people show up all the time and are instantly accepted, whether or not they have RSVPed, or ever played a Eurogame. ”

“ This was my very first Board Games get together. I walked in and no one even acknowledged me. Would have liked it if people would've introduced themselves to me. I didn't know where to sit or what to do. Fortunately, I'm not shy, so I just sat down at a table and asked the lady next to me a couple questions. I understand some were involved in their games, but there were some that hadn't started yet and were going over the rules and some were standing around. If the coordinator was there, I never met him. If the coordinator can't be there, he should ask someone else to greet and explain things to newcomers. Other than that, it was fun. ”
