Party Bus to Ape Caves & Cougar Reservoir

Summer is almost here, time to start planning some outdoor drinking activities!

Here's the plan: We will meet at the party bus at 8:15am and head to Ape Caves Lava Tunnels. ( http://www.mountsthelens.com/ape-caves.html ) It is approximately a 2hr drive. There are 2 hikes available, an easy route and a harder route. We will be here for 2.5hrs to give people enough time to hike. From there, we will head to Cougar reservoir  to swim, enjoy the sun and scenery. Between 3 & 4pm, we will get back on the bus and head back into Portland.

What to bring: Ape Caves is a cool 44 degrees year around. Bring sturdy shoes, a sweatshirt, long pants if you're planning on doing the harder hike, a flashlight or headlamp if you have it. You can rent kerosene lamps for $5.  Also bring a swim suit, towel, and flip flops for the beach area at Cougar. There are no stores or restaurants that we will be stopping at, so bring a waterbottle and plenty of snacks, pack a lunch. After hiking, you will be hungry! Also bring a plastic cup for shots :)

THIS IS A PARTY BUS! That means, we can drink! I will bring two coolers (We will need more if anyone can bring theirs) NO GLASS ON THE BUS! So beer will have to be in cans, hard liquor transferred to a plastic container.

In order to pay for the Party Bus, I have to have a minimum of 40 people signed up and paid in full by the 7th of July. If I don't, it will all be cancelled :( If we have 40+ people, the $25 price will include two beers per person and I will probably bring some hard liquor as well. This will be adjusted according to how many people RSVP.

As we get closer to the date, I'm sure I will post more information. Let's make this happen together! It will be a BLAST!!!!

$25 per person includes: Trip on the bus to and from. Two beers/wine, snacks, water. Parking for both Ape Caves and Cougar Reservoir, $1 Paypal fee.

Hey Y'all, Dumb Ass here. Fractured the left tibia and ankle. More than likely, surgery. Oh well, I had a blast until I jumped, and a blast on the bus ride back. Wish we could have gone to the Reservoir, would of been fun also. Chicago Pizza was a riot until some rude person told us to quit down. Anytime I see a Party Bus ad, I am going again. Jen, awesome school/Party Bus. Thank You.

    Hi Jen & all,
So sad I'm having to skip out literally hours before. Hurt my shoulder boating yesterday, and won't be any fun in my current state. Have an incredible time and a few drinks for me!

If I recall correctly there should be a PAY NOW link or something similar to the right of the price in event details at the top of this page. Make sure you're not looking at the mobile version of the Meetup site though because I think the link might be hidden if you're not accessing the page from a computer.

So excited!!!! We have 40 people signed up (but not all have paid, c'mon, people!) I have paid for the bus, some beer, some wine. Here's what I need from you and some rules:

We will meet at Best Buy Tanasbourne 18075 NW Evergreen Pkwy, Beaverton, OR 97006 at 8:30am, and leave promptly at 9am. Please don't park at the front of the store. There's plenty of parking all around. Look for my red Mini Cooper.

Our 1st stop is Mt. St Helens lava tunnels, Ape Caves. There are two routes, an easy and a hard. I will have check off lists for those who get on the bus, and partner people up at the caves so we can stay accounted for. The caves are 44 degrees and rocky, PITCH BLACK. Bring warm clothes, sweatshirt, hat, long pants, hiking boots/sneakers. No sandals or flip flops in the caves! A head lamp or flashlight is necessary, or you can rent a kerosene lamp for $5 at the information center.

Next stop is Cougar reservoir. Bring items necessary to go swimming :)

Food stuffs. We will be hiking and swimming and burning

    July 9, 2013

    • Jen P.

Food stuffs. We will be hiking and swimming and burning calories. We will not be stopping at any stores, so please bring a sack lunch and whatever snacks you'd like.

Booze. NO GLASS CONTAINERS!!!!! Bring whatever you want, just make sure there's no glass. Also bring a plastic cup in case people are in the mood to share. WATER! Bring at least one filled water bottle.

I need everyone's full names and phone numbers please, including your guests. You have expectations that I will keep 40+ people safe, then I need your help to do so!

Does anyone have a cooler/ice they can bring?

      LOVE IT!!!!

I have a full size cooler that I'll bring with me. I'll have some things in it but others will be welcome to share it with me. I'm guessing we'll probably need a few more coolers though!

I would like to go! But I don't think I can get to Tigard by 8:15. Can I carpool with someone? I am on the East side close to the Hawthorne area.

I'm not on that side of town :(

Yes!!!!! I'm so looking forward to this, and finally got off the waitlist. Will there be enough room on the bus for extra gear, like chairs or my portable picnic table?

    • Jen P.

I'm not sure. But I will keep you posted!

I just bought four boxes of wine, which equals 16 bottles. On top of that, I found cute little Merlot plastic to go cups. Are we going to class this up or what? (See picture)
