Zoo, Hoyt Arboretum, Pittock and Audubon Sanctuaries

Leaving the trail head at 9:35AM!  Meeting place is across the road from the Forestry Center, in front of the Washington Park map sign (or in the sun if it is cool).  Since I have no cell phone, please plan accordingly.

Starting at the Zoo, we will "briskly" hike thru Hoyt Arboretum to get on the Wildwood trail to take us up to the Pittock Mansion. Yes, this is another "exercise" hike, if you are interested in joining me! We then hike down to explore the three Audubon Sanctuaries,  returning back up to Pittock Mansion with some other trail modifications.  As we return to the Zoo, our starting place, we will do a few other trails in Hoyt Arboretum.

This hike will gain/lose over a 1,000 feet in 7 plus miles at a "brisk" pace.

This hike, including breaks, should be completed in about 4 hours.

Parking is FREE at the Zoo, unless you attend the Zoo, or Forestry Center!

We will hike rain or shine because that's what you do in Portland!

No Pets.

Scent Free Zone (Some folks are allergic to perfumes and colognes - Allows us to smell what nature has to offer)

No Guests (Liability issue)

Note: This event will be shared with the "Portland Weekday Hiking" Meet up Group.

Regarding those folks who's GPS trackers said we did 9 to 11 miles: From the zoo to the Wildwood trail thru Hoyt Arboretum - 2 miles round trip. From the Wildwood trail to Pittock Mansion - 2 miles round trip. From Pittock to the Audubon Center - 2.5 miles round trip. And doing the two sanctuaries 1.5 miles round trip. Including some rounding up, we only did 8 miles today.

Ooooops... There is mud in my eye. Eli reminded me that we did the Upper Macleay Trail, not taking the short cut to the Audubon Center by staying on the Wildwood trail. Soooo, How about we add another mile on the route to make it 9 miles. Sorry.....
