Stairs, West Hills, Pittock, Audubon, & Balch Creek

We leave Wallace Park at 9:35AM.  Since I have no cell phone, please plan accordingly.

This 6 - 7 mile walk/hike will take us through some of Portland's most beautiful and prestigious neighborhoods, climbing 540 stairs (only going up!) . We will pass by magnificent homes and walk around the grounds of the Pittock Mansion, a Portland landmark, before hiking down to visit the Audubon Center.  We then follow beautiful Balch Creek to loop back to our starting point.

Be prepared for steep hills, stairways and dirt trails.  We will gain 800 feet in less than 2  miles, probably gaining over 1,000 total feet of elevation.

We should be gone around 4 hours.

No Pets.

No Guests (liability issues)

We will hike rain or shine because that's what you do in Portland!

This hike is not suitable for beginners, or who are not in good shape.  Good hiking shoes/boots will help with the muddy and slick trails.

Scent Free Zone (Some folks are allergic to perfumes and colognes - Allows us to smell what nature has to offer)

Note: This event will be shared with the "Portland Weekday Hiking Group".

*The Organizer and assistant organizers assume no liability to anything that happens at any meetup event such as injuries and/or other accidents that may occur on the hiking trails or paths. It is strongly advised to only sign up for hikes or other events that meet your level of experience and health condition. Thank you.

Hi Dorothy, I don't know about any other leaders, but I have not lead one since you ended up "listing" on it. :) Happy Holidays!

I was just asked if this is a workout, or hike. If you want to run up the stairs, please do so as many times as you want. The group will always regroup at the top of the stairs or junctions to make sure we do the whole loop together.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
