Because rich data needs a rich representation.
I've been doing data modeling in one form or another for >10 years. Coming up with a good model is incredibly satisfying, and getting stuck with a bad one is frustrating as heck.
At the moment, not a whole lot. In the past I've done a bit with OWL.
I'm a postdoc at OHSU in the Center for Spoken Language Understanding. My background is in medical informatics and information retrieval.
