First March Shiba Meet

Meet at Normandale park, this time we will go to the NW corner gated section. It is for smaller dogs. This way we can keep our Shiba Pack in one Shiba group. When you get to Normandale there is a right and left entreegate. Take the right gate and go to the back of the park, this is where you will find a third gated section. Hope to see many of you there. See you soon

I had fun at the meetup, I'm sorry that you had to leave early Rus. I haven't seen you or Mugen since he tried to be dominate over Sen Ten that first time, and was kind of hoping to see you guys. It was awesome meeting everyone and seeing friends again. I hope to hear about the next event soon to make plans accordingly! :)

Part of it is that Mugen basically grew up with the group; he had been going regularly for 5 years. When younger dogs get up in his face (even if they're trying to play) and get too excited, he doesn't back down from it. He also has a memory for when a dog does that, so I have to keep an extra careful eye on him. He'll wait for me to be preoccupied, then he'll try and put them in their place. He has no problem with Shibas that don't get up in his face and test his patience. Ones that don't try to smell butts for longer than acceptable are also okay. But it's part of being an alpha male, especially one that is older. In the pack sense, their impulse is to train the younger ones...but the overwhelming majority of people don't like that, and I don't like that because they don't like that and it kills me to see dogs get hurt ever, so it makes me have gray hairs and ulcers.

Dante had a great time and slept like a log afterwards! Hes grown so much from the last time we went to a meetup so it was nice to see how hes grown and to see some of the shibas again!

Mugen, Myself, Hana, and Hana's dad showed up pretty early (~11:30). The weather was spectacular. Hana's pop had to go to work today, and Mugen and myself were kinda "persuaded" to leave by a fairly aggressive and over-excitable Doberman (one of the really big ones, the owner had a hard time getting him/her into the park). I'm pretty busy today as well (not surprising, I guess). Otherwise, it was great. I took pictures of both of them and will upload them as well. Keep an eye out for that Dobie, though...the guy brought him into the mellow dog side of the park, and that's probably the side most of you will go into. He kinda cleared out all the mellow dogs when he tried to take Mugen's head off while he was on leash as we were trying to leave.

(and when I say "he" was on a leash, I mean Mugen. Normally Mugen would be able to avoid it, but that was a straight up cheap shot)

That Doberman was something else. Hana at ~14 lbs did her "I want to play" dance and the Doberman about pulled the owners arms out of their sockets.

Yes Rus, it was nice to meet you. I had to work, but Hana had a lot of fun with the other dogs in the small dog area, until that random toy hoarding dog got all snappy about a ball in the area.

I made it out a little earlier than anyone else, and kind of had to leave before anyone showed up. Well, Roger was there with Hana, so we kind of had a pre-meetup.

Sadly, I have to work. Hana is anxious to meet other Shibas and I hope there are more meetups in the coming weeks.
